About
From 2012 to 2016, Sextantworks produced over a dozen experiences that started with trespassing: a dry water tower, an abandoned sugar refinery, a shuttered resort. The first thing guests did was something they weren't supposed to do. That opened up possibilities: what else could we do, explore, and experience together?
Scale ranged from 12 strangers sharing drinks in the Night Heron speakeasy to hundreds gathered on ships around New York Harbor. Most experiences were in New York City; some extended to São Paulo and Iceland. Every experience was framed as a gift. At the Night Heron, this meant passing a pocket watch to someone you wanted to send.
Ida Benedetto directed the experiences, designing their narrative and emotional structure. N.D. Austin led the explorations, built out the locations, and served as the guide who welcomed guests into spaces they'd never otherwise enter.
